Introduction to Volunteering with Your Therapy Dog
Starts on Saturday October 25, 2008
Here are some of the topics covered in our classes:
- The benefits, responsibilities, and rewards of therapy dog volunteering
- How to familiarize your dog to the sights, sounds and smells of an institutional setting
- The pros and cons of bringing treats along to visits
- Liability and insurance issues
- When to trust your dog’s instincts during a visit
- The supplies you’ll need for your therapy dog (and why you should never include a towel in your gear bag)
Register today - space is limited to only four students per class!
- Classes are three hours each from 9:00 am - 12 noon
- Sessions run Saturdays: October 25th, November 1st, 8th and 15th, 2008
- Class cost is $30 for LAPTG members/$40 for non-members
- Proof of rabies vaccination and CGC title must accompany our application
- Checks must accompany completed and signed application forms

Classes are taught by LAPTG certified therapy dog handlers and/or board members. Each student will receive a class manual. Class locations will be determined shortly before start date.
Completion of this class does not guarantee acceptance as a therapy dog team with Luckdragon’s Angels Pet Therapy Group. This instruction is just the beginning of LAPTG’s extensive evaluation process for certification as one of our highly trained, sought after, and valued volunteer therapy dog teams in our community.
